Essure 2.0 Could Be Coming Soon If It Is Not Already Here

Bayer may be waiting for the furor against Essure to blow over before putting the device back on the market, perhaps in the form of a new and improved product

Wednesday, August 28, 2019 - Even though what follows is speculation on my part, I think that something about Essure's status of being off the market is amiss. Something just does not feel right. It strikes me as being odd that the official Essure.com web site continues to tell prospective patients where and how to get the Essure birth control device implanted even though the company supposedly discontinued sales as of December 31, 2018. Essure sufferers rejoiced when they heard the announcement that Bayer, maker of Essure, was going to stop selling the device, however, they may have confused a company that stops sales with a company that "voluntarily recalls" their product. When a company feels that there is a potential malfunction in their medical device they may attempt to get out ahead of the problem and voluntarily withdraw the product from the market before the Food and Drug Administration can issue a recall which can be a public relations nightmare. For example, when Ethicon Inc., maker of the Ethicon Physiomesh hernia repair mesh received a high number of reports that the device was malfunctioning, not only did the company stop selling the device but also insisted that all remaining inventories of the device be returned immediately. Not so with Essure. Essure birth control lawsuit attorneys are helping families and individuals nationwide and offer a free consultation and no obligation to file a claim.

There are multiple reports on social media that it is business as usual for Essure doctors. Essure recall advocates have gone undercover, posing as potential Essure customers and found literature promoting Essure in their offices as if nothing is wrong with the device that has caused pain and suffering for tens of thousands of women. Essure doctors continue to deny that there is a problem with the Essure birth control device and are continuing to implant unsuspecting women every day with the official blessing and support of Bayer. Bayer has gone far out of their way to insist that the only reason for their halting sales of Essure is that false accusations were made that Essure was unsafe. Such accusations were validated when the Netflix documentary "The Bleeding Edge" was released documenting Essure horror stories and allegedly caused demand for the product to decrease making the business model unviable.

If you think that I am being extreme or are unsure as to Bayer's intention for the Essure birth control device going forward go to Essure.com and have a look for yourself. The company continues to promote where to find an Essure doctor to have the device implanted here: http://www.essure.com/getting-essure/find-a-doctor. The web site promotes the device as if nothing is wrong. Essure.com continues to tell women that the device is convenient and safe in spite of it causing catastrophic and sometimes permanent physical harm. "The Essure procedure can be done right in your doctor's office and placement doesn't require cutting or incisions or the use of general anesthesia. Most women can leave the office about 45 minutes after their procedure is completed and the majority of women return to normal activity within 1 to 2 days." Not exactly the rhetoric one might expect from a company that has discontinued the product.
