Planned Parenthood Continues To Advise To Use The Essure Birth Control Device

No mention is made of the warnings that the FDA has required Bayer and others place on their websites telling women that Essure can have serious, life-threatening side effects

Saturday, March 9, 2019 - Planned Parenthood's sugarcoating of the actual adverse side effects and their unabashed endorsement of the Essure birth control device is shocking. Tens of thousands of women have been injured by Bayer's misguided birth control device, a metal coil that resembles a spring from a retractable ballpoint pen. Essure comes in pairs, one to be inserted in each Fallopian tube where polyethylene fibers are intended to irritate and basically slice open the Fallopian tube lining to the point that they bleed causing scabbing and eventually scar tissue to develop, encasing Essure and preventing the man's sperm from reaching a woman's eggs. Bayer discontinued selling Essure as of the end of 2018 due to a lack of sales the company blames on false and misleading negative publicity generated in social media and in the documentary film, "The Bleeding Edge." Planned Parenthood is presumably yet to get the memo that they should not be recommending the device any further.

There are many instances of the family planning organization playing fast and loose with the facts that surround Essure. The Planned Parenthood website makes no mention of any of the topics written about on this web site, information that gives consumers a fair representation of the suffering Essure is causing women. The organization's Essure page is loaded with lies, half-truths and innuendo, all intended to continue to promote Essure birth control as if no problems existed. National Essure birth control device attorneys offer a free consultation to families and individuals harmed by Essure birth control device.

For example, women visiting the Planned Parenthood website are told that there is nothing to worry about when it comes to "unplanned pregnancy." Post-market studies of Essure reveal, however, that an unacceptably high number of women suffer from ectopic pregnancies that result in, miscarriages, babies being stillborn or infants subject to birth defects. An ectopic pregnancy occurs when fertilization happens outside of the uterus, often in the Fallopian tubes that are not equipped to handle the demands of a growing baby. In addition, over 300 fetal deaths have been reported by Essure women.

Secondly, the Planned Parenthood website tells women that they do not have to go under general anesthesia to get Essure. Tell that to the tens of thousands of women that have had to have Essure removed, found the device had migrated to the uterus, punctured it and become stuck there, and requiring a total hysterectomy to remove it. The Essure website homepage even warns that adverse side effects could require Essure removal which in turn could require major surgery done under general anesthesia.

Planned Parenthood also boasts that Essure, unlike birth control pills, does not contain hormones and that a woman's period should continue "in its natural state." A great many women have suffered Essure migrating away from its intended location lodged on the inside of the Fallopian tube, into to uterus, causing cramping that sinks Essure's sharp edges deeper and deeper into the delicate tissues causing constant pain and non-stop bleeding. Essure women report more frequent bleeding and greater cramping pain than they had before accepting the birth control device.
