Essure Causes Ectopic Pregnancies

If Essure is only partially effective it is completely useless

Monday, July 15, 2019 - Essure malfunctions have ruined the lives of tens of thousands of women who have reported their nightmares to the FDA and also to the Essure Problems Facebook group, and in light of them it is easy to overlook Essure's most impactful side effect of all, that being getting pregnant. Thousands of women have become pregnant while on the Essure device and the consequences can be devastating including miscarriage, abortion, and stillbirths. Essure lawsuit lawyers are helping American women harmed by the Essure birth control device side effects and have vast experience representing these type of cases.

Essure doctors working indirectly for Bayer are quick to point out the benefits of the device but fail to mention the potential side effects. In fact, if one stops to think through the logic and rationale of the Essure device I'm sure a woman would run out the door. Two metallic, spring-like coils make up the Essure birth control device, one to be inserted into each Fallopian tube. Essure is wrapped in sharp abrasive material that is intended to irritate the Fallopian tube tissues causing lacerations and bleeding including the distinct possibility of causing infection. It is hoped that the body's natural response to the lacerations will create enough scar tissue to encapsulate Essure in place on the walls of the Fallopian tubes and block sperm from reaching a woman's eggs. Contraception does not always occur, however, as sometimes the tubes are only partially blocked. Other times Essure painfully breaks loose and migrates deeper into the reproductive organs such as the uterus. When Essure migrates to the uterus it becomes entrapped as constant contractions just sink the device deeper and deeper causing severe, debilitating pain and constant bleeding. Essure has also been shown to pierce straight through the Fallopian tube and wind up in the abdominal cavity where it can injury major organs.

One Essure woman describes her migrated Essure device as having "a rusty nail" in her womb.

Women are warned that Essure is not effective for three months following insertion and that they should practice other methods of birth control. Essure removal surgery is major surgery and usually requires a hysterectomy. Bayer maker of Essure calls the device "permanent" birth control but the only thing permanent about Essure is that may be unable to be removed regardless of the pain and suffering it causes. Even under the most ideal conditions where Essure is still attached to the Fallopian tube, attempting to remove it requires tugging and yanking at the device until it resembles a broken slinky.

One Essure woman shares her nightmarish Essure experience with the highly-recommended website, DrugWatch.com. In an article entitled "Essure Caused Mom's 15 Years of Pain, Ectopic Pregnancy" Amanda Chavarria shares her thoughts on what it feels like to become pregnant and at the same time experience Essure complications. Ms. Chavarria reports that Essure caused her to feel "a host of ailments, including painful sex, pelvic pain, depression, migraines, and muscle and joint pain. The implant even caused her to a life-threatening ectopic pregnancy." An ectopic pregnancy is one where the fertilized egg settles outside the uterus usually on the lining of the Fallopian tubes. Since Essure pregnancies usually occur due to a partial failure to block the Fallopian tube, most ectopic Essure pregnancies occur in the Fallopian tubes where abortion is required.
