Is Your Gynocologist Merely An Essure Salesperson?

For over a decade Essure doctors may have been bribed by Bayer and are unwilling to recognize Essure's adverse side effects

Thursday, August 23, 2018 - At the end of 2018 Essure will be taken off of the market, however, hundreds of thousands of the faulty devices will remain within women's bodies. It is only a matter of time until complications from the device will require the device's removal. So far around 40,000 women have complained of the adverse symptoms of Essure but that number could be dramatically higher. Most times when an Essure woman goes back to her gynecologist, yes the same one Bayer Inc. paid to sell her the device in the first place, is told that the symptoms are all in her head and that Essure could not be the cause of their pain and suffering. Returning to the gynecologist complaining about Essure is like going back to your barber and asking for your hair back. Essure patients were completely unaware that their Essure doctor was in fact on Essure's payroll.

CNN reports that they have uncovered documents that point to Bayer bribing seemingly independent gynecologists to push the Essure device over alternative methods of birth control and to ignore the potential side effects of the device. CNN reports that one Essure doctor was paid more than $150,000 over a four-year period by Bayer Inc. The doctor promotes Essure on Youtube and television videos. According to an article on CNN.com, "A CNN analysis of federal data, shows that from August 2013 through December 2017, Bayer paid 11,850 doctors $2.5 million related to Essure for consulting fees and similar services. These payments are legal but very controversial."

One of the problems those wanting Essure's removal is that they are not taken seriously by their gynecologists. Doctors that recommend Essure's removal face being sued for implanting a faulty medical device, to begin with therefore they seldom take Essure's adverse symptoms seriously..When an Essure woman returns to her Essure doctor complaining of debilitating pain from Essure, she usually told that the pain is all in her head. In addition, admitting Essure's failure would jeopardize the doctor's relationship with Bayer which had in fact been reduced to Essure salesperson. Women trusting their doctors to give them objective advice on which birth control option is best for them were reduced to receiving an Essure sales pitch. The CNN investigation also revealed that "Studies by scientists at the University of North Carolina, Yale University, the George Washington University and Harvard Medical School, among others, show that when doctors are paid by pharmaceutical companies, they're more likely to prescribe drugs made by those companies."

Scientists and researchers fear that over 750,000 Essure women will at some point in time be forced to have the device removed for health reasons. For now, if an Essure patient is suffering from the symptoms of the failed birth control device that they speak with an Essure attorney for a referral to an independent physician with specific training in Essure's removal.
