Women May Seek To Have Essure Removed Before Complications Start

Once a woman has been made aware of the potentially life-altering side effects they are opting to have Essure removed immediately

Tuesday, April 30, 2019 - The Essure device has been proven to cause hundreds of terrible side effects, the most common of which are when the device migrates and becomes permanently entrapped in the uterus by contractions causing constant pain and extreme amounts of bleeding. As I have written here in the past, women that experience Essure problems may seek to have the device removed in order to alleviate the adverse symptoms that Essure causes. Others wanting Essure removal/reversal may have simply have changed their mind for whatever reason, and again wish to become pregnant. Others still have read the horror stories surrounding Essure's side effects and wish to have the device removed pre-emptively. Essure birth control attorneys offer a free consultation and no obligation before filing a lawsuit claim.

With thousands upon thousands of women demanding that their Essure birth control device be removed, gynecologists have added Essure removal to their list of surgical procedures they may be willing to perform. Interesting to note is the fact that few doctors that recommend Essure are also willing to attempt removal procedures. Essure was once recommended as a reversible form of birth control but the product's description now reads "Essure is a form of permanent birth control." That said, gynecological surgeons that specialize in other forms of sterilization reversal such as vasectomy reversal and tubal ligation reversal may be willing to attempt to safely remove Essure. Doctors stress that every patient is different and that there are no guarantees, therefore, a woman needs to see the doctor in person to interview for the procedure. Some Essure removal doctors report having performed hundreds of successful Essure reversal and should be willing to offer a list of referrals should a prospective patient ask for them. That said, fears still exist that attempting to remove Essure could cause more problems than it solves.

For example, Dr. Charles Montieth, M.D, a Board Certified gynecologist, and Essure removal/reversal doctor, warns that there is always the risk of leaving Essure coil fragments behind in the uterine cavity and muscles. A good Essure removal doctor will recognize this risk as well as the risks of damaging the uterus or damaging the blood supply to the Fallopian tubes when cut and repaired. Most Essure reversal doctors will attempt to pull Essure from within the Fallopian tube without breaking it, however, the procedure could include having to cut away a segment of the Fallopian tube. A small section of the Fallopian tube that has built up scar tissue will also have to be removed to lessen the chances of an ectopic pregnancy occurring.

The Essure removal/reversal procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis and under general anesthesia in a procedure that usually only takes about 2 hours. The surgeon makes a 2-3 inch horizontal incision in the abdomen parallel and just above the pubic hairline. Each Fallopian tube is dissected and the Essure device removed along with any scar tissue. The doctor should take care to remove as little tissue as possible in order to maintain adequate blood flow through the tissues.
