Essure's Life-Ruining Side Effects

Essure problems can cascade and affect all aspects of a woman's life

Friday, August 31, 2018 - When a woman goes to the doctor to explore birth control options the last thing she expects is to lose her job, her home and the ability to care for her children but that was exactly what happened when the Essure birth control device was involved. According to a recent article on www.mammamia.com, Essure patient Lise Tarbotton was left immediately in excruciating pain the moment the Essure device was implanted into her, in tears and barely able to walk. For nearly a decade since her Essure procedure, Lisa has experienced life-altering side effects such as "recurring pain, extremely heavy, clotting periods, a constant metallic taste in her mouth, loss of appetite, severe fatigue and brain fog - none of which she'd experienced prior to being fitted with Essure." Because of her inability to perform the basic duties of being a mother and sometimes not even being able to get out of bed, Lisa has lost her job and had to relinquish custody of her three children to her ex-husband as well.

An unacceptably high number of women, probably in the tens of thousands worldwide, have experienced metal hypersensitivity reactions and adverse autoimmune responses to the Nickel coating of the metal Essure device. When a woman attempts to have Essure removed the device often breaks into pieces and surgeons have sometimes been unable to locate and remove all of the metal fragments leaving them behind in the body. Women with Essure metal hypersensitivity experience difficulty in having relationships due to a loss of sex drive and also having to sleep almost all of the time. Essure doctors are also hesitant to admit that the Essure device is the source of a woman's problems. Many doctors are paid by Essure indirectly to promote features of the device and to ignore the side effects. Bayer, the maker of Essure, continues to tell the public that the device is safe and that its removal from the market in the US is due to "economic" reasons.

Essure sales have fallen around 90% over the last year prompting Bayer to pull the product from the market at the end of 2018. The company blames adverse publicity from the movie "The Bleeding Edge" as well as the Facebook postings of over 40,000 women that have had horrific experiences from Essure woman for the drop in sales. Bayer continues to claim that Essure is safe and that the benefits far outweigh the risks but that is no excuse for the company failing to warn the public that Essure indeed carries serious risks. Failing to do so deprives a woman of the right to make an informed decision. Bayer continues to stress that as far as preventing conception is concerned Essure is effective in 99.8 percent of the time. Bayer reassures potential patients by saying "...as a minimally invasive procedure, Essure placement requires no cutting, leaves no visible scars, and can be performed in the doctor's office." However, women suffering from Essure complications and who is eligible to file an Essure lawsuit should consider getting a free consultation from an experienced Essure attorney.
